CCYB is pleased to offer two program-sponsored summer playing options for players entering Grades 3 through 8 in 2019/2020. In addition, we are providing information for other basketball programs in the area, including the Patriot Hoop Clinics.
CCYB Summer League
CCYB will be entering teams in the Acton-Boxborough outdoor summer league. The season begins June 10 and will run through August 8 (no games the week of July 4), with weekday games primarily on Mondays and Tuesdays. Home games will be played outdoors at Rideout or Emerson, and away games will be at locations within a 20-minute drive. Games are all outdoors and will be refereed by two officials.Students entering Grades 5 through 8 in 2019/2020 are eligible to play, and the cost is $50/player. Players can wear their CCYB jersey or another numbered CC maroon/white shirt. More advanced players entering Grade 4 may be considered for 5th grade teams. If you have kids who are close in age we can put them on the same team, as we are not subject to the same age restrictions as the travel program. Please register your kids at the grade level you’d like them to play. We will have larger rosters to account for other activities, vacations, etc.
Boys who are interested can register on the CCYB Web site here.
Girls who are interested should e-mail Girls Travel Director Tom Isenberg at

CCYB Pickup Basketball - House Rules
Team Formation – First 10 who show up are the first two teams. First two to make free throws are captains and pick their teams. Anyone showing up after the start of the first game will either be a captain or should request to be on a team. Nobody should be denied a spot on a team or be skipped over. If there aren’t enough to substitute a whole team, players on the court will shoot for it to see who stays.
Games – Games are to 12 by 1s and 2s, win by 2. Full court for 8 or more, half court for fewer than 8.
Winners Stay – The winning team stays on the court to play the next team. Mix up the teams to make it competitive.
Offensive Player Calls Fouls – Only the offensive player can call a foul and the call must be respected. When a player calls “Foul”, play should stop immediately. That team then takes the ball from the top of the key after checking the ball to the opposing team.
Dispute Resolution – Out of bounds, loose ball, and other disputes are resolved by shooting for it.
Scorekeeping – Call out the score after each hoop.
